An evaluation of organizational citizenship behavior: Psychometric characteristics of the Italian version of Podsakoff et al.’s scale
The current article presents the results of a study which developed an Italian adaptation of Podsa-koff, Mackenzie, Moorman, and Fetter’s (1990) questionnaire, measuring organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) by referring to the following dimensions: Altruism, Conscientiousness, Sportsmanship, Courtesy, and Civic Virtue. The original questionnaire was translated into Italian and modified in order to allow people to report how often the various citizenship behaviors come into play in their working environment. A group of 1066 participants (50.3% men) took part in the study. The exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses showed that only three of the factors (Altruism, Conscientiousness, and Civic Virtue) fit the data well. Results and applications are discussed
