Period of 18 months from publication of an article:
Authors have the right to
- Use their article exclusively for their scientific career (academic purposes such as career evaluation or dissertations, provided acknowledgement is given to the original source of publication).
- Retain patent, trademark and other intellectual property rights (including raw research data).
Readers can buy the article and have no right to reproduce and/or redistribute it.
18 months from publication:
The so called “embargo period” ends and the article follows the “green open access” policy, becoming licenced under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0) Licence.
Authors and readers are free to download, post and distribute the final version of the article at their will, following the guidelines of the international CC BY-NC-ND 4.0 licence and linking it to the journal site.
Authors are free to post their version of record (final PDF version) of the article in the institutional/subject repositories. In no case authors are allowed to distribute pre-print or post-print versions (other than the final PDF published on the journal website) of the article, they can only dispose of the final PDF version of the article after 18 months from publication.
This licence allows users to copy and distribute the article, not for commercial purposes, and does not permit its distribution if its changed in any way, provided that the user gives proper credit to the original publication (possibly through a link to the original publication).
