Our identities as human beings are fundamentally defined by the work we do. However, over the last decade, various studies have highlighted how different work-related factors can instead undermine a full perception of others and oneself as human beings, fostering processes of dehumanization. The present Special Issue aims to analyze dehumanization in the workplace, by considering different perspectives of the phenomenon and different involved actors. Topics may include (but are not limited to) the analysis of processes related to dehumanization of workers, workers’ self-objectification, meta-dehumanization and/or organizational dehumanization.

The Special Issue will accept manuscripts reporting quantitative or qualitative research, as well as reviews or theoretical analyses of dehumanization at work.

Manuscripts should be prepared in accordance with APA publication guidelines and should not exceed 6,000 words in length, or 2,500 words for short research reports (for more detail see https://www.tpmap.org/instructions-to-authors-2/). Manuscripts, exclusively in American English and appropriately reviewed by native English speakers, must be submitted online to the following e-mail address tpmap@tpmap.org by indicating that this submission is for consideration in the special issue on Work and humanness: Dehumanization processes in the workplace.

Please direct any inquiries (e.g., about suitability, format, etc.) to the guest editors.
